    Karakuri are marvelous.

Your skill is impressive, and your lighthearted design
    is a pleasure to view.

I particularly like the dogs head that follows the swing through its arc.

    What is traditional subject matter?
How might you bend the art form to say something unique?

I would suggest something like a hunting hound chasing a fox,
with the fox watching the hound circle below.

(That's the first thing that came to mind.)

I thank you for looking at my work.
I am happy if you enjoyed.
"traditional subject matter, the art form "
I dont know yet to me. But it may be a new subject matter.
"like a hunting hound chasing a fox"
It is good idea. I think so, too.
Implementation is likely difficult, but I will study it.
    それにしても、あなたは日本語がお上手ですね。

I love your creations as they are very imaginative and creative. +1 for a pleasure to view. Thanks for posting. You are a skillful and talented woodworker!

For new subject matter, I think a person with a pull toy playing with a cat would be fun. The cat's paw would be chasing the string or toy the person is pulling.

Beautiful work. I might suggest a chid at the zoo with different movements by the animals

Wonderful work. Perhaps a girl on a tricycle would be a good subject, or a cat and mouse, or maybe a cart pulled by a dog, with a child in it.

Keep them coming, I enjoy them very much.

    Great work!!!!
An old childhood nursery rhyme came to my mind.
    Hey diddle diddle,
    A cat and a fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon....
