Using magnets to hold plane blade?

Has anyone tried using a magnet to hold a plane blade to surface the back on stones? Any thoughts? I have some magnets that turn on and off for using on the table saw as a jig and am going to use as a handle for doing the backs of plane blade on water stones and help keep fingers out of the way.

A strong switchable magnet may temporarily change the shape of thin blades like a Stanley, a bit of checking the magnet's effect might be useful before doing too much work.

Double back tape is better. Not the foam stuff use the stuff that is like thick magic tape.

Jewelers use pitch to hold stones to a stick while wet grinding them to shape then warm (or freeze) the pitch and the stone (OR BLADE) drops off the "handle". I would warm it.
