    Cyclone motor

    I have in my possession a 7.5 Hp, 3 Ph cyclone motor with the Impeller attached. The impeller rotates freely for 4 or 5 mins if spun by hand.
    The cyclone was rusted so I scrapped it. Also I have no way of testing the motor to see if it works. Any suggestions of what to do before I send it to the scrap yard????

    The 3 ph motor would make a good DIY phase converter.

    If you want to know if it runs, I am in the same position, and called a local motor shop, who will give it a thorough checkup for $25. Haven't gotten it there yet, but soon.
