Thumbs up I Am a Pro At Finding Deals Or The Luckiest Guy Around

Everybody sit back and read with envy. Lol, SCORE!!! Anybody agree?

Had to go to the store this morning. Getting ready to head home and I spot an Estate sale sign. I thought what the heck and stopped by. Appears these people have been having this sale for a couple weekends.

The guy was a Woodworker but most all the tools were gone other than a few Jigs. I am looking at his Dust Collection piping, he used what looked like 5" rigid piping. So I followed the line to see where he hooked up. There was a closet box he built, low and behold there was a Dust Collection still there but all I could see was the motor, so I asked if he was selling it, The guy said Yep, $5.00. My jaw just about hit the floor. I grab ahold od the motor and it was held to the top of the box with weather foam tape. Pulled it a bit harder and it popped loose. I handed him a $5.00 bill and booked the heck out of there before anybody said anything.

Here is the motor unit. I do not see any manufacture's name or any info on brand. Any one have a guess?

I get it home and think I need the rest of the system. I drive back over with tools in hand and ask the guy if he wanted to sell the metal part and he said sure, $5.00... Takes me about an hour to get this thing out of the cabinet, the guy had done a very good job of building the cabinet, I would have taken the entire thing but it was pretty big.

    I ended up with this.

I swear on a stack of bibles this is the truth.

I have one. I bought it used from the guy who built it. Other than the filter clogging easily it works well.
Thanks Loren, How well does it work, pretty good suction? Any idea if it will perform better than the 2hp Harbor Freight unit?

There is no filter with this one, the guy had it outside and had the collected dust drop into the bottom of the cabinet it was installed in.

I built one. Yours has not been modified, the mods make it work much better and are pretty easy to do. Mostly just opening things up

Thanks Tom, I am looking for what the Mod's are. All I have found so far might as well be in Chinese, I am not getting it.

The blower looks very similar to the Penn State 1 HP unit used on their old bag model. See the newer one here. Good strong blower -- I have one that I bought back in the 90's and it still runs well (but I also have a ClearVue CV1800).

It has been proven that a built in fan like this was what caused
all the ruckus over in Amityville.

If you leave them on long enough, they create a temporal rift that the departed cross over.

If you "google wood magazine cyclone modifications" some good stuff pops up. I would also search Wood magazines forums as some of the links point there.
Good luck, I did the mods in an afternoon and it really makes a huge difference.

Thanks all, I do not think the sellers even knew what this is. They were talking about it and I guess I did them a favor tearing it down so they could scrap it, the house was sold. I will search the Mod's and see what pops up.

I am not sure yet how you all can tell just by looking at the picture that it is not modified.

Can someone tell me if this is a normal build. There is a 6" pipe connected to the top where the motor attaches that extends down into the cone about 19". Is that how they were built?
