    lacquer thinner

I cleaned piece of walnut withlacquer thinner. Do I need to neutralize it from surface before finishing - I still see some dark area on the walnut.
    Thank you,

Lacquer thinner just evaporates, as far as I know. I've never heard of neutralizing it.

Like Mike said, the laquer thinner should just evaporate with no residue.I think once you finish it the dark spots will go away.If you are worried about, take a piece of scrap walnut and soak it in the same laquer thinner, hopefully ending up with the same results as you have now. Then apply your finish to see how it comes out.You could also try wiping the pieces with Denatured Alcohol, that could take the dark spots out also.
