    Indian Baskets Numbers 3 & 4

Took a class with Jim Adkins in July. These projects get completed in the house so when I get tired of standing at the lathe I sit and work on these, does take a lot of hours.

Snake skin pattern is 11 x 1 and Squash Blossom is 12 x 1.75 both made with kiln dried hard maple. Comments welcome.

Very nice. These are on my bucket list to do. Just have no idea where to start. Really would like a class or demonstration at a symposium from Jim sometime. Hope he'll be at nationals or the Ohio show soon.

    Steve,
I really like these. Jim was at SWAT showing how to do this. I like the design on the left the best. It is probably because of the colors that make me like it better.
    Nice work.

Those really are spectacular ... one might suggest the skills were passed down from several generations.

How many hours from start to finish? 20?

    Impressed.

I have not kept track of the time but guessing probably over 30 although I believe I am getting faster at the burning and pattern layout.

  10. These are both just superbly done, Steve! Jim must be proud of his student on these! Bravo!
