    Inside A Spray Booth Fan

When I was doing the kitchen cabinet doors and drawers I decided to buy a HVLP sprayer. I had planned on spraying outside but I took so long making the doors it was winter by the time I was ready for finish. So I set up a "temporary" tent in the basement. Since I was spraying a WB finish, I just used the tent to keep everything else from being sprayed and used a box fan with some filters on it to exhaust the tent into the workshop.

Then along came guitar making and lacquer entered the picture.

Since this was just going to be a one and done project I opted for a crummy little 6" duct fan to get at least some of the overspray out of the tent. I vented it outside. The fan was at the end of 25' of flex duct. It didn't seem to move much air.

Since it looks like we're moving now, I took the temporary tent down and removed the duct and fan. In all I'd say the fan saw the overspray from about 3 quarts of lacquer and one quart of WB finish. I was surprised when I looked inside.

Looks like that "...crummy little 6" duct fan..." did more than you'd expected
