Free credit monitoring from Home Depot

YASB (Yet Another Security Breach). This time Home Depot. Last time I gave it to Target, but Home Depot deserves ten times worse. That is because they took forever to identify a breach that while not identical to Target's, shared many of the hallmarks.

This is a good thing. Without the breach, there would be no improvements.

I'm not sure if it's an improvement - but - HD is offering free ID theft protection to anyone that used a charge card at HD between April 2014 and Sept. 2014.

my solution to all of these security breaches would be to cancel all store cards and pay cash for everything.

I would suggest not using cash. You are likely to get shot and killed for your money.

Home Depot didn't cancel any or replace any cards as far as I know, I still have mine and it still works.

HD did not learn their lesson from Target. This is what they get.

I didn't have a HD card. I'm not sure if the bank replaced my card because they saw a HD charge or if HD notified them, and my old card worked until I activated the new on when it arrived in the mail.
