    Looking for router bearing sleeves...

I saw them advertised once, they were a white plastic, and included a variety of sizes. You basically installed them over an existing router bit bearing to make it slightly larger, maybe they added 1/16" or 3/16" to the O.D.

I have, for example, a 1-1/8", 1-1/4", and 1-3/8" bearings but I'd like a 1-5/16" bearing. So I'd take my 1-1/8" bearing and add this sleeve to it and voila, 1-5/16.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

To get you started try googling....." 'Vari-Depth' bearing"

You could get the 1-3/8" turned down!

Were with delrin, not good; they'd spin off. You need press fit steel rings. WMC can do it.

I machine up my own for longer runs, lucky me. But for years I have used vinyl tape, you can buy it at car paint shops or a packaging company like Uline. I prefer the Uline stuff that is red. It's super thin and you can build up a guide bearing as you see fit. It won't last forever but it works really well for most jobs. On my pin router while machining tricky grain I'll tape the pin and then in steps remove the tape to bare bearing -tearout be banished!

    Cheap and effective.
