    Simple mahogany deck table/benches

I needed some additional seating and a low coffee table for our deck, so I decided to combine the two.

These fire pit benches can be ganged to double as a coffee table.

Hand chopping mortising is like drywalling to me: I am rusty when I start, so it takes too long at first. By the time I get proficient and efficient, the job's done.

The little udders on the stretchers are a hat tip to (read, poor immitation of) Hank Gilpin.

The 12" boards for the top were really to swirly to do anything else with.

Finished in Watco Teak oil. C&C welcome.

i would patent your idea before Ikea gets it. good idea. one question and that is in pic #5, the top does not make contact with the end pieces. is this by design or by accident? Cameras are never forgiving

That's by accident Some things you just don't notice until after the clamps come off. Some things should never be photographed from underneath
