    Temperature for spraying

My favorite season has arrived here in NE Wisconsin, but I'm wondering what the minimum temp. has to be for spraying Shellac and WB poly in my garage?

Can I spray both down to about 50 degrees? Or does it need to be warmer?

Shellac will do just fine at 50ºF, though you'll want the dew point to be probably about 45ºF or less. WB poly will spray fine at 50ºF, but its drying time will be greatly extended, making it prone to runs and sags. In my experience, WB poly does better at 60ºF or higher, with 65-70ºF being the sweet spot, depending again on the humidity somewhat (too dry can be somewhat problematic, too, along with too warm).

I recommend you read the tech. data sheet for the WB poly product you are using. Many will NOT cure properly below 60 - 65 F. With respect to shellac, I think you can spray it at nearly any temp. as long as the dew point is lower than the actual temp.
