How to "really" hand cut a wooden screw?

Well, I finally finished one wooden screw / one wooden nut.

Looks really good!

Making the screw was enjoyable. Making the nut was not.

That's kind of what I figured. It seems like making a tap (like Darrel and Matt described above) is not that hard, but making a die (or "thread box") is a much bigger deal.
