    Presentation boxes for handmade knives

My friend Gary Greer was invited to participate in a show called "Wild Things" curated by Michael Hosaluk.

The show will premier at SOFA in Chicago late October and then move on to The Lightbox in New York City.

I volunteered to make the "shipping containers" which turned into Presentation Boxes, kinda got carried away

Maple carcass and bottoms, curly maple tops and ebony handles. The neat thing about magnets is they have a self closing effect !

    2 3/4" H x 4 3/4" W x 14 3/8" L, sides are 5/8" thick, top and bottom is 7/16". Handle started out at 3/4" x 3/4".

Finish is one coat of Watco Natural and two sprayed coats of post cat lacquer.

Nevermind the knives, just put the boxes in the show! Said tongue in cheek, of course. The boxes are beautiful, congrats.

The boxes, knives, and photography are all first class.
    Well done!

The pull detail, showing a perpendicular reference is clever.
The boxes are excellent - better than they need to be.

Naming knives, however - a bit twee, that.

I guess that you are one of those , "that's good enough guys"?
perhaps he names them so that if someone wanted to order one there would be a descriptive name. you would have just used 1,2 or 3 like a real man would?

I love those boxes, you have done a wonderful job with a smaller project. You got everything correct, proportions, wood choice, design. Although they are small, they are large in the important functions of design and execution thereof !! Great Job !!!
