LN Hand Tool Event in Minneapolis

I got there fairly early on Friday morning and spent time with one of the Lie-Nielsen guys talking about using a shooting board. Found out that shooting boards can wear out with extensive use and it's easier to just make a new one when that happens.

Highlight of the event for me was closely watching Mark Harrell, owner of Bad Axe Toolworks, sharpen one of his back saws. He lightly jointed the saw but then went through the process about four times before he was satisfied with job. No need to shape the teeth and the set was already done. He spoke highly of Bahco saw files and he definitely likes the hybrid filing pattern which he did on the demo saw. The three of us watching then were able to make some test cuts with the saw.

It was great to watch a pro do this.

I have Mark's sash saw and marvel at its performance. I had expected to attend the show but needed back surgery on Monday. Has anyone dealt with workshop cobwebs?
