Which wood for bowsaw build

I had to rebuild one of my turning saw arms, and from what I can tell, grain direction and selection is more important than wood type as long as you aren't wildly off base.

'Course that one of mine must be from 15 or so years back and looking into it again as a result of this topic under discussion I see Ulmia is now using lime wood across there which could be even lighter weight than cedar. I take that as their effort to source material locally.
