    Do you include the bark when calculating board feet of live edge wood?

    I'd say it depends on whether you are buying or selling the live edge.

    My go-to guy always throws in an extra 8" board to cover live edge losses.
    Never, under any circumstances, consume a laxative and sleeping pill, on the same night

    No, I do not. I will measure the width to the inside of the bark, and estimate the average width over the length of the board.

    I do the same as Scott. Another way is to imagine that the board is edged square, and figure the BF on that width.
