    Waterlox rub out

I re-finished my walnut island top with Waterlox Original and got a smooth but too glossy (by a mile) finish. A week later I rubbed out with 0000 steel wool and wool-lube and reduced to a satin sheen but there are cloudy patches visible when you have low angle light. My next move was to polish with a buffer and the luster is beautiful, but the clouds are still there. Suggestions?

You are too early by a few weeks. It is functionally cured within a few days [meaning you can put it in service], but if you are going to rub-out the oil-based varnishes, you need a solid month.

Go away, and come back later.
When I started woodworking, I didn't know squat. I have progressed in 30 years - now I do know squat.
