Blanket chest bottom - shiplapped, tongue and groove or frame and panel?

Hi,

I am considering making a chest like this one. It uses a frame and panel bottom. It would be easier to use a simple tongue-and-groove or shiplapped bottom. I suppose it would provide more structural strength than just loose boards on the bottom, but is really recommended or just theoretically better?

Marko, there isn't much that's easier than a frame and panel bottom......Rod
