I fiddled with it some. Not so sure what to call it now.

yep........I could believe that was hollow when you took it off the lathe! That's a pretty snazzy piece of work, Glen!
Remember, in a moments time, everything can change!
Vision - not just seeing what is, but seeing what can be!
It's a beautiful piece of art, since it won't hold M&M's.
Well done!
Excellent!! "Celtic Cross"??
Very seXy
Call it art. It is beautiful. It is still a hollow form in my book.

Glen, it's certainly art and it's well done.

So much to learn, so little time.....
If it was a hollow form when you took it off the lathe, I'd say it is a hollower form now. Very nice, Glen!
Glen - most impressive! Love the imagination! Looking forward to seeing what you create next!

Very interesting! I guess I will cross off this shape/design for a future piece! You did well on it.

No, it's not thin enough yet.

Thanks for the kind words, folks. In February of this year, at the ripe old age of 56, I sold my dental practice and joined the ranks of the retired. My wife and I are doing a fair amount of vacationing, but when we are not, I am in the shop at the lathe. Now that shop time is not limited to weekends, I hope to hone my skills further.

Being a retired dentist might help explain the need to poke holes in a perfectly good turned piece. Next you will be burning and coloring it. Maybe you just need to call it "a piece done well". You forgot to mention wood type, size, and finish.
Beautiful. Call it art and give it a name. Considering its appearance and your profession - 'cavity' seems appropriate.
Retired - when every day is Saturday (unless it's Sunday).
A thing of beauty and a work of art! I would be interested to know if you used your dentist air drill or a dremmel tool to do the piercing.
