    Any gun experts out there?

I am on vacation in Virginia, and today I saw an antique gun for sale in a store, and am wondering what it is worth.

It is a British Brown Bess, 75 caliber, series 3, judged by some expert to be in 'very good' condition, and operable. To my untrained eye, it has had some splits in the stock that are glued, the gun cocks and the trigger works.

According to the expert it was built between about 1780 and 1810, and has various markings indicating British Military, suggesting it could have been used in either the War of 1812, or the Napoleonic war.

Anyone have an idea what this rifle might be worth??

You could go to a firearms auction site, gunbroker(.)com and enter "brown bess" in the search box for a place to start. Being collectibles I'm sure there are a number of factors that enter into the value like any other antique.

The range is huge, like 1,000-25,000, it's all about the details. I don't know anything about those details though, so...
