How do you sharpen push drill bits?

    The title says it all.

Look carefully at the tip and duplicate it. They are just like spiral drills on the tip,but not spiral.

Thanks, George. I haven't sharpened spiral bits before, but the simple advice to look at it carefully and duplicate it worked for me. To be able to see what I was doing, I used the slotted disk on my Worksharp 3000 (with the bit mounted in the drill so I didn't have to try to hold the bit in my fingers, which could be a bit hazardous if the bit were to grab the edge of a slot) -- piece of cake! One question -- I know that you don't want to touch the flutes, but my intuition tells me to dress the "inside" of the cutting edge with a file or small diamond stone after I sharpen the tip. Good idea or bad idea?

Just to remove any burrs you can dress the inside flutes. Don't get them too thinned or you may find the drills crack up the middle.
