    Design Question

I am going to build a shelf to hold a flat screen TV, a DVD player, and a ROKU device. The shelf will be approximately 10 – 11 inches deep and about 5.5 feet long. I will build 3 or 4 corbels / shelf supports under the shelf. My question is, should the corbels be as wide as the shelf?

I think it depends on the style of the corbels. I'd probably let the shelf overhang them by about an inch.

Typically shelf supports leave part of the shelf unsupported along the front edge. I agree with Dave that I would leave about an inch overhang. If the shelf is thicker than 3/4" then I would increase the over hang.
