    I hope you are not planning to put blankets or other cloth items in your chest. Oil based finishes like Antique Oil will off-gas almost forever and any cloth items stored inside will be permeated with the odor.

    I have used Antique Oil a number of times over the years and it is a fair product. I have just followed the direction and it came out fine.

    Remember, Antique Oil is an oil/varnish penetrating type of finish. You will not really be able to see it on the surface. It soaks into the wood and needs to have the excess wiped off Two to three coats should be fine
