I'm modifying a broken block plane to be a low angle bevel down with chipbreaker one handed mini smoother. The build notes and pictures are at https://bridgerberdel.wordpress.com

Very cool so far...looks almost as if you were looking for an excuse to use all your shop machines.
I've got a pile of similar "inexpensive" block planes that well-meaning relatives have gotten me at yard sales, and have daydreamed about using them for customization also - I was thinking chamfer plane, one day when I have a lot of edges to chamfer. Maybe someone should start an SMC neander winter contest to see who can do the most with a Stanley 110 or similar plane?
looking forward to your progress, thanks for posting
Karl
A chamfer plane would be an excellent use for an unused block plane. Could be as simple as a couple of bolted on fences.
