    Carved Medal of Honor ribbon

I have not been much of a carver but what little I have done I have enjoyed. This project is one I have done before on a slightly smaller scale and is a copy of a Medal of Honor ribbon. I have carved 3 of these ribbons that were 24" long and now working on 3 that are 36" long, all from basswood. For the 3 finished 24" ones I had pieces 1/4" steel cut on a water jet in the shape of the Navy/Marine/Coast Guard Medal of Honor and then plated to look like the gold color medal. My "model" to carve these is the photo of an original MOH

If any of you have any suggestion about carving, I would welcome them.

Just out of curiosity- what drove you to this project? Beautiful work.

Jim, I have a very good friend, a marine that is a Medal of Honor recipient and have done several projects for him as well as a few of recipients. Carving is really not my forte, but it was fun to do this for these men.
