My workshop is in the basement and would like to find a way to exhaust sawdust via the window without loosing to much heat in the winter, any idea how to do this? and what kind of fan needed?

Robert,
Use a dust collector to blow the chips and dust into a chip box outside. Remove the bags and filters and connect the DC outlet to your exterior chip box with pipe or hose. If you live in the frozen North this might not be a good option but if you live about anywhere else it works great. You will lose a little heat but its not enough to worry about as most of the heat in your shop is in the floor and machines not in the air. I have been using a chapbook for about twenty years. A two HP DC will provide almost double the performance when you remove the restrictions from bags and filters.
