    Pecan

This hollow form was turned a couple of months ago but I just now got around to sanding and finishing it. Pecan; 12" dia X 8" high, the dark oval is bark, there is another oval patch of bark on the other side. The pores were highlighted with black shoe polish, finish is lacquer. I like the dark pores but will use a different process the next time I try this (was unable to get the color even). Comments and critiques welcome.

I really like the shape on this one...very sensual, and the highlighted grain is nice too. Maybe an oxblood polish next time??

Dennis, I really like the almond shaped feature on your pecan HF! That has a lot of nice things going on with the contrasting of the sap and heart wood. I like what you did with the open pores too. I've bought some liming wax to try a similar effect, but haven't tried it yet. I like the shape and think it goes well with the natural edge opening; to me it is reminiscent of a volcanic formation. Very nicely done!
