    Barn wood frame

This is a poster I found on ebay and framed with wood from my grandfather's barn. It is hanging in my bedroom now, finished yesterday afternoon. The shelf on the bottom holds the TootsieToy trucks like the ones I had as a little boy, a WWII compass I found in the first house we bought in White Pigeon on Hotchin, and my grandfather's block plane. I worked a long time to get this wood from my grandfather's barn, I have quite a bit left. It took me over 6 months to make it a reality. This is the first project I have made with it. The wood was cut to rough length, cutting out nails. I then ripped the edges off both sides of the board to the width I needed. I then mitered it and joined with Thumbnail dovetail keys at work and set pieces on edge around the outside with a pin nailer and attached the bottom shelf with glue and pin nails.

Nicely done. I like anything built with old barn wood. And I like the coleman poster.
