    Red arkansas stones

    Are these common ? I have an old 1930's hard Black Arkansas stone and wondered if there is a difference in the sharpening qualities between the Red and the Black

    The black is a finishing stone. Very fine grained.
    The red is like an india stone some where in the 1000 grit class.
