I searched and found a three year old thread. It looks like Lee Valley (Veritas), at that time, had high marks. Looking for a good set for hobbyist woodworking. I don't mind paying good money for a good product.
Any thoughts?

I bought the Veritas set based on the FWW review. So far they cut cleanly and stay sharp. I am very happy with them.
The LV set is a good product, very good.
Please help support the Creek.

Yup, ditto on the LV set. I would buy them again.

+1 Lee Valley. I have the large set and am very happy with it.
Jack
Another +1 on LV set.
Last time I looked, Lee Valley sold the individual bits as well as the set. Nice if you hit a hidden nail inside a board and break off the outer cutting teeth. I did that and only had to buy 1 bit to restore the set to completeness.
I bought a 29 piece brad point set from Harbor Freight for $12 and they got me through a project and gave me time to look around for a better set. I ended up getting the Lee Valley set, but I almost bought a brad point set from W.L. Fuller. They were marginally higher in price, but appeared to be a quality set.

I see all these LV supporters here. I like their products but on bits I have to say I bought a set of Fisch bits and forstner bits. I really think they are the best I have ever used. Their wave fortsner bits are the best out there IMHO
+1 on the Austrian bit makers.
I have a set of Leichtung that seems
idiot proof, and I regularly test that.
Where are the LV spur bits made?
PS - Michael Fortune has a video showing how he manages,
using a dressed grinding wheel and cheap metal work bits
to make a spur bit on the fly.
Lee Valley's HSS sets are American made, then reground by LV.
I started with the LV small brad-point set (up to 1/4"). Liked them a lot. My only complaint is that they don't offer an add-on set (up to 1/2"). I ended up getting the full set as it was less expensive than individual bits. So, I'm doubled up on the small bits.

One more for the Lee Valley bits, I started out with a set from Rockler and the points were not centered on most of the bits. It made it really hard to hit a spot, then I got the Lee Valley and it sure made things a lot easier.
Mark, another vote for the Lee Valley bits.
Acurately sized and ground, very sharp, reasonably priced.............Rod.
Thanks all. Sounds like Lee Valley will get my business.
