    Bocote

I have a log of Bocote that is hex shaped (to get the bark off I assume)
it is about 11 x 36. Is there any value in the instrument world for something
like this. I am thinking of bring it to the sawmill this week. I wonder if he
will even cut it. Any feedback would be appreciated, Kevin

Look here: tonewooddatasource.weebly.com. They describe it as a desirable tonewood. I have no experience with it myself, though I am intrigued. I also have a bandsaw that would probably be able to slice that log up (20" Agazzani), if you feel like a road trip to Amherst, NH.

Bocote, is great tonewood .... it will vary a lot as to where it was harvested..... Most of the material has a green hue when initially cut but soon turns the yellow, brown, and red colors with sunlight and oxidation....

    Blessings,

    Kevin
