    old iron bandsaw blade tension

I am considering getting a carbide blade for my 36" Crescent, but unsure how much force I can generate on it for blade tension. I have run a 1" carbon steel blade on it in the past with decent results. Has anyone with the same or similar saw successfully used a 3/4" or 1" carbide blade for resawing in the 6-10" height range?

I run a 36" Tanny, and a 30" Yates, and there is no problem tensioning them. That size Crescent should be plenty stout.

If the tension mechanism is intact and spring is good you will tension way past the 25-30,000 psi needed for a Trimaster. My 1936 Oliver 217 can do it easily. DaveDSC04308.jpgDSC04312.jpg
