Another alternative carving

Here is another set of scales I carved for my collection. I now have 4 done for my 7 day set. On this one I inlaid a piece of Abalone shell and did just a bit of scrimshaw to finish it off. Also on this razor I cut the design into the spine of the razor. A nice trick considering it's tempered steel and files won't do a thing on it.
And the wedge you can see separating the scales at the end of the razor. I made that out of a .45 bullet.

Love the abalone inlay work, the very idea would never have occurred to me for ivory but it works great. Seems to somehow put color in the ivory.

Yeah ,, the color adds something to the blank white canvas and adds some interest to the piece.
