Adding to that.... The less focal length you have to work in. For example, my 2.0, I can usually be 1/16th (over 1/8th on some materials) or so in or out and still get a good shot. However my 1.5 has to be focused spot on.

I noticed on ebay the other day when buying more $18 lenses, you can get a ONE INCH focus lens-- I was going to get one just for giggles but I already have a 1.5" I've only tried once--

I've been doing some acrylic work and I'm hoping that a smaller dot will get me a little better resolution. What I have isn't bad... but I would like better. Thanks for the replies guys!

You'll get a smaller spot size, but might not be able to cut it.
The depth of field is more shallow.
I might try a 1" for making cliches though. No cutting involved.
