    Sharpen my gouge for me?

I posted pics of this on the Neanderthal sub-forum, above. A #6 x 40mm with a little pitting in the concave part near the edge.

To buy the pair of Chris Pye 3 x 3 x 18mm slips to treat this and deal with the pits, I gotta spend nearly 90 bucks. And once done, I will never use the slips again.

I can handle the bevel side with my grinder, stones, buffing wheels, etc.

Who is willing to do the Chris Pye thing of using the slips to waste away enough metal inside so I can sharpen this thing myself?

wrap wet or dry sand paper around a dowel and use it for a slip

Probably the easiest in this case. I've also made my own slips. Get small arkansas stones say a 4x1x1/2 Break it into three pieces and then make those three into slips of different sweeps. Use sand paper, a belt sander, a sidewalk or a grinder to get close to what you want and then sand paper.
