VLC media player, which at one time would play almost any media without issue has suddenly begun to act up. It now freezes up at random times. No idea why this has suddenly started.

Like most software problems, I wonder is a clean install or new version would clear the problem.

Have you defragmented your drive, or set the hardware priorities to favor audio?

i am beginning to think i have a hard drive that is on its way out. Just tried playing a video from a different drive and it seems to play ok.
