    Shaker Bench

It'll be a couple of weeks or so before I do another project video but here is a basic Shaker style bench I made

What I have learned from doing these videos is that I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for a good secondhand 14" bandsaw. Using pre dimensioned lumber is great but at some point I'll need to resaw. In addition making do with a coping saw is fine but it's not really designed for the amount of work I'm asking it to do. A nice bandsaw would prevent a rabbit hole of big frame saws etc that would likely eat time and money more than a bandsaw.

Anyway, hope you like it and I welcome your thoughts.

Thanks Brian! It's a fun way to share a project.

Cheers Steve, if you did a sped up power tool project the video would only of been 5mins ;-)

Graham, it would be great if you would post some still photos of your project here, too. Thanks in advance!

Ha! Thanks Paul, it's an http://elementarydesign.co.uk/ . Not sure where to get them in the us. It's nice. I'd like to get a ratchet screwdriver too.

No worries Glenn, thanks for watching.

Hi Jim, sure, will attach the two I have below. I've been photographing less and been using video as a way to share a project. When I've gone text and photo heavy it seems to slow the project down. Reading between the lines (and as a mod myself on another forum) I could imagine the posts I've made could seem like cheeky links to my videos. I've tried to limit that by making the video watchable from the SMC page without driving traffic elsewhere. However, if I have the balance wrong I'll happily limit myself.

Graham, thanks so much for these no-nonsense, utterly demonstrative videos. The style, plus the limited tool selection, are really motivational for a beginner (*cough* me *cough cough*). This bench may pop up in my apartment right after I follow your lead on a shooting board.

Oh, but regarding the limited tools: except that screwdriver. I normally buy the superused, supercheap ones, but that elemen'tary suckeris calling to me.

EDIT: Paul, I had to dig: http://www.handeyesupply.com/product...hangeable-bits. I'm a fan of this lil' guy, No. 2, myself

and the shop sells them separately or together.

Although I just saw you're in BC. Maybe Hand-Eye Supply ships to Canada? I hope I didn't just tease you.

Thanks Barry, I like the videos too. Mainly because I can maximise my shop time but still share what's going on!
