    I'm a Believer--Bought a Powermatic 10" Table Saw for $35

Was looking at auctions for restaurants that closed (a friend is opening one) and found one tool, an old Powermatic 65. It sold for a whopping $35 and I have the receipt to prove it. Got to the auction for pickup and met a rather upset #2 bidder. He tried everything to get the saw. Said it's 3-phase. Looked at the plug and it's a straight plug-n-play for the Rotary Phase Converter in the garage. Had a bit of surface rust but nothing more. Took it home, slapped on some oil, plugged it in and it purrs. Most likely will rebuild this one. I removed the fence for transport but it has an old round tube variety. Anyone know what those darn extension wings do?

Umm.. what did this 2nd-place bidder cap his bidding at (?!)

The winglets remind me of the Brett Guard:

Pretty close to the sentiment the number two bidder held (his bid stopped at $30). Laughs.

    Wow...!
Could the side winglets be for a power feeder? No idea what the rear one would be for.

Brett guard would be mounted on the side though right?

You might have well just said it was free! Who sets a max bid at $30 for a $3000 saw? Bozo.

So this was an online auction? Great find!

  9. Plus one on the brett guard. I have used a Brett guard mounted on the left and side.

Brett guard. They can go on either side or the back. Congrats on a great deal on a great saw.

Those winglets are just stumps, probably an evolutionary remnant. Likely this table saws ancestors where able to fly but gave up the ability for some reason.

  14. I'm kinda leaning toward what Bruce said......mount for a power feeder.
Nice get for a great price. Just from the photos, I would have bid up to $200 on that saw to get it and send the #2 home with nothing!
Paid $150 for my PM66 at auction and was glad to fork it over!!
