Turn CNC Woodworking into a Laser engraver

    Hi,

I have a CNC Shark HD (From Rockler) and am looking for anyone who may have been able to upgrade a cnc to a laser engraver. I found one online, but it was a bit confusing. I would prefer to find someone who has done it with success.

    Thanks in advance!

CNCnutz - Peter Passuello has a whole bunch of videos relating to the subject
    https://www.youtube.com/user/cncnutz/search?query=laser

If you can handle his accent (he talks a bit like me) then you will be sure to find some good info.

    Cheers

CNC Routers are very slow machines compared to a laser engraver. Its doubtful that the very slow speed is something that you can overcome and attain a reasonable level of raster engraving performance. The slow speed may not be a problem with vector cutting.

I just watched Peter's videos the other day. He is using a 2 watt violet laser diode. The slowness of the router machine is less of a problem.

I have the same laser diode, only mine is infrared that I may do the same someday.
