I am making my daughter a bedroom set and she has asked for a barnboard finish. I was recently used General Finishes milkpaint and high performance water based topcoat on an armoire and was very impressed with result. Looks like sprayed on factory finish.

My local GF dealer suggests painting a board w Driftwood color milkpaint then sealing with High Performance topcoat then applying black glaze finish and then wipe off. Has anyone had success in achieving that elusive light grey driftwood/aged barnboard look?

Suggestions appreciate as I am a total neophyte re milk paint and glazing
