Love it, I always wanted to try carving a small letter or two. Maybe I will give it a whirl, they look fantastic.

Thanks Jerry , I am not very familiar with carving tools . I have had a beginner set of Ashley Isles laying around the shop for quite some time , I basically used all six of them along with bench chisels for the outline of the straight lines . Through trial and error the sweeps and skew seemed to work best .

Thomas, very nice job. I would have to do a lot of practice carving on scrap before laying a tool on that nice chest, really great results for first attempt. You did a good job on the grandson as well, he's a keeper!
