    First project. Reinforcing.

    Hey guys,
So I'm helping build an aquarium for a friend, and where he wants to put it won't be able to hold the weight. It's an ikea shelving unit for TV's, holding a max of 60 lbs. However my friends set on using this. Would there be a way to reinforce this melamine build to aid in the overall weight capacity? Or would it be easier to just rebuild using real wood in the middle portion? Any advice would be appreciated

Where in that unit is the aquarium going? Water weighs 8 pounds per gallon. How many gallons of water will this aquarium hold? Remember that rocks and other non-f;oating items weigh more than water does. Aquariums don't like sag.

If you have welding skills what about some black angle iron where he wants to put the tank? Not the same as wood but an idea.
