    Another melamine question

I need to join some white, frameless melamine cabinet boxes together -- side-by-side for a closet organizer. Was thinking about using connector bolts, but they only come in bronze and black (not white). I tried using some 1-1/4" coarse thread sheetrock screws, but they don't hold very well.

    Any suggestions?

A quick Google search turn up white connector bolts at Custom Service Hardware and Menards.

I'd shop around before I paid this price but this is what you need:

These screws hold well but you need to drill the hole right (hence the special bit) and they require a large hole (hence the covers).

I have had no trouble using 1 1/4" common gold screws on several closet and pantry shelving units. I try to go in from the side that shows the least and use FastCap stickers to cover the holes. I wouldn't do it on something fancy, but for closet organizers............

Confirmat screws are ideal for melamine covered particleboard. Screw caps to cover the screwheads are available also Another poster referred to them in the Woodcraft link above.

You will find that the screws will be all that you need to hold cabinets together, although I do glue mine.

Google Confirmats and find the cheapest vendor
