    Scooped plate question

Second posting on this but here goes again:

I want to do a chip carved plate with a recessed area and a raised bead.

Having trouble figuring out how to do this.
    Thanks.

I would turn the bead and recess on a lathe, and then carve the rest.

Don't want to use power tools?....make a spring pole lathe.

In your first post you say " no power tools" . Does that mean you don't have any or you want to do this old school?
You were given a way to make the recess by scoring the circle and carving out the recess. Granted a lathe would do both the recess as well as the bead but lacking that carving will do it. And when you keep saying " having trouble figuring out how to do this" then what exactly are you having trouble with that you want an answer for?
    The recess?
    The lip?
Doing the pattern and chip carving?
    Making the whole plate?
your question is vague and you keep asking it.
But since you post this as a scooped plate you answered your own question. Get a scoop,,, or a chisel and scoop it out. You said you're going to carve it. It's only 1/4 inch. That's your answer. Carve it.
