Uses for Old Dewalt 735 Planer Blades

Hi all,

I have a few sets of old dull Dewalt 735 13" disposable planer blades sitting around the shop collecting dust. The package indicates that they are M2 Laminated High Speed Tool Steel.

Does anyone have a suggestions what I can use the steel for? I was thinking of trying to cut them up with a grinder and making small blades for luthier plane, an old womans's tooth wood-router plane or even maybe a small lathe tool. The holes do limit the amount of usable steel...

I hate to throw away good steel. I am very cheap and not as rich as I used to be.....

Marking, or striking knives are a good choice, particularly with the holes since it makes it easier to attach the scales.

I used an old planer knife to make a mini froe:

My blade didn't have any holes so it is just trapped in the slot that holds it. It can swing a bit.

If they are thin, a marking knife would also be a good use.

Some of the lathe tools that came with my lathe appear to be user made from old planer blades.
