Diamond engraved Globe and Anchor on black lighter

this was another experiment on a black finish lighter. This globe and anchor was cut
using a diamond bit engraving bit and cuts to expose the steel underneath the finish.
I'm happy with the results. I'll try a crosshatch and different angles next.

That looks good, I think a cross hatch would look better.
    How did you hold it?

I have diamond drag engraved brass on my CNC Router and it looked pretty good but it took a long time.

Or maybe try just the outlines of it. That's normally a great image for outlines because it picks up all the internal details. Plus it'll run a lot faster!

Thank. Just good ol' fashion double face tape on the backside. Most of the force is downward so
it doesn't need a lot of holding power. I'll be trying a crosshatch on other items.
This is still just a concept phase. cheers!

well that would depend on the artwork. this was a almost solid silhouette so to have simply outlined it would not have looked very good. I think it really will need to be a combination of the two (outline and fills) to go from good to great. Just need more time. Speaking of which - this took 19 minutes. Cheers!
