    Bailey #7C Lever Cap Replacement

    Help needed folks-
I am restoring a Bailey #7C type 13 (I believe) to be a productive user and would like to replace the badly damaged Lever Cap. I have searched Google for replacement parts but have come up empty (my skillset in this arena is somewhat questionable). Any suggestions, sites I should check out or does anyone have an extra laying around they would consider selling?

    Mahalo in advance.

You know, for now I'd just beltsand a new edge across the end. Just to get it working.

A #5-1/2 or a #6 use the same size as in width..

Then, go to FeeBay, look up nhplaneparts.com. Eric SHOULD have a couple of the right size.

    Steven-
Mahalo (thank-you)! Apparently that was the site I couldn't find. Went through over 250 Lever Caps without a score but....just went back on and found the exact cap just posted. Bought it. Kinda balked at $75 but what the heck?
    THANKS AGAIN!

    Actually got it for $16.

Almost got me on that. $16 isn't bad, even better if it included shipping.

I agree with fixing the cap. File or belt sand it and polish it and it will be good for another 100 years.

Regardless of what some might say, lever caps are NOT screwdrivers.
Betcha that's what happened to yours.
    Glad ya found a replacement.

I hate it when I find a nice plane that some fool used the lever cap to loosen the chipbreaker screw!!

    Agreed!
There's a special place in tool-purgatory for these wayward souls in the company the folks that mushroom the tops of socket chisels, kink saw plates, cross thread tote and knob screws and never clean or oil their tools!

Maybe what happens is we are reincarnated and finding our old planes in rust hunts.

I can weld them and you will not be able to see the repair if you didn't know it was repaired.
