I love the smell of red oak

Went out to the woodpile to bring in a stash for the next few days and got a good whiff of that raw red oak smell, I just love it. Can't say that about another wood except for the rare old 2x4 that has that turpentine smell when freshly cut.
    NOW you tell me...

I agree on the red oak smell. My most favorite is red birch.

    Red oak is great.
I love cutting and especially pulling up a stump of sassafras. We have a LOT of sassafras trees and many don't live past 30-40 years. Makes nice turning wood.
Eastern Red Cedar is also nice.
