    Broken bit problem

    Hi all,

The project is a Humidor. I was drilling the screw holes for a brusso quadrant hinge using a #3 Vix bit. In short the bit broke. The wood is only 1/2" wide and I don't want to ruin the almost finished project.

    HELP please.
    Let the wood speak!

Can you take a nail set and support the piece and punch the brokeb bit on through?

Chuck, someone, (Sears, maybe), sells a set of 4, (I think) hollow bits for removing broken screws/bits. You just choose the one that has an inside hole size large enough to slip down over the broken bit as you drill just deep enough to get a bite with needlenose pliers or vicegrips, then reverse the twist, (counterclockwise), to back the bit out of the hole. The hinge will probably cover the hole, or you can glue in a small thin plug.
