Just a follow up and reminder on the Agenda that Jim posted.
The camp “officially” starts on Thursday ( May 19 )

    The previous times were:
    9:00 – 10:30 Meet and Greet......

The first session will last till lunch time
After lunch there will be two or three sessions.
Gary Campbell and I will be tackling the topic of the Rotary.

We know many people have this option on their CNC machine but It’s the least used tool in the shop.
We’ll show the ins and outs of the rotary and how you can design and make other item than just spiral columns.

This has always been a requested topic, so we thought we would spend the better part of the day on it.

The exact agenda and timing is still being finalized but I wanted to make sure people could arrange there travel schedules accordingly.

Thursdays meeting has gone till 5:30 – 6:00 pm....so bring your questions.

    See you there,
    Michael

    Michael,

I would love to attend your rotary session. I'm guilty of not using mine so I could use a jump start
    I'll get registered ASAP.

    Keith...
We all know what a wizard Michael Mezalick is. He is planning some real whiz bang and intentionally out of the box projects. We are going to try and cut most everything that is designed. This will be both unbranded and all branded. We are hoping to have users bring projects or designs from all machine brands and control softwares. We also hope to entice some OEMS to have machines with rotary axes that will cut them.

My class, titled "Rotary (4th) Axis Demystified" , is about an hour and a half and consists of information pertinent to those that have a rotary axis, or those who may wish to purchase or build one. Hardware and software information from both branded and generic 4th axis products. From Vectric rotary wrapped 2D setups to full 4th axis machining, with 2, 2.5 and 3D indexed machining in between.

All Vectric Rotary gadgets are explained along with hand coding for the rotary that most anyone can understand. There will be info of value for those that have never done rotary and a few tricks and techniques that even the most experienced will appreciate. I will have on hand one of my wood lathe modifications with a rotary 4th axis and this will allow a good number of the class files to be cut live, along with those from Michael's designs. Special attention will be dedicated to applying 2.5 and 3D toolpaths to 3D blank models that are either lathe turned or 3D toolpathed within VCPro or Aspire.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Don Mayhew, a representative from Trotec Laser in Atlanta Georgia, has committed to attending and will be demonstrating a Trotec Laser Engraver and an air evac unit.

Don has also agreed to do a presentation should there be interest. Just twenty minutes ago I got a second confirmation from the Trotec Office in Michigan that they have the Aspire event on their official calendar.
